Biography

2018…Matt had another breakout year for the Lights while securing his 3rd consecutive starting spot at 141.  Matt placed 4th at the Spokane Open, 1st at the Tyler Plummer Classics, 3rd at the Missouri Valley Invite as well as 2nd at the inaugural Cascade Conference Championships securing his third consecutive trip to the NAIA National Championships.  While in Iowa, Matt took advantage of his bracket by beating the defending National Champion Josh Wenger of Grand View in the semifinals before falling in OT to place 2nd at the 2018 National Championships, making him a 2x NAIA All-American.  Matt compiled a season record of 33-11 and led the team with 18 pins.  Matt Weber was also the first ever Cascade Conference Wrestler of the Year. 
2017…Matt was sidelined most of the Fall semester, but was able to compile a record of 19-10 with 5 falls.  Matt placed 4th in the Battle of the Rockies, 3rd at the Missouri Valley Invitational, 3rd at the West National Qualifying tournament and narrowly missed the All-American round at the NAIA National Championships.  Matt is now a 2x NAIA National Qualifier.
2016…Matt competed at 141 during the season and compiled a record of 26-14 with 6 pins for the year.  Matt was 5th at the National Qualifying Tournament and was the #1 overall wildcard selection to compete at the 2016 NAIA National Tournament where he performed well and placed 3rd, garnering his first All-American honors.  Matt also placed 3rd at the Trapper Open, 2nd at The Battle of the Rockies and 6th at the Missouri Valley Invite.  During the season, Matt knocked off multiple #1 ranked wrestlers including Steele Escobedo (Menlo) and Jake Ekster (MVC).
HIGH SCHOOL…4x Montana State Champion going 195-13 in high school.
