Box Score Havre, Mont.- After a 0-2 start, the Northern Lights football squad looked for their first win since the 2014 season as they played host to No. 21 Carroll College on Sept. 17. Carroll came in with a 12-game winning streak against the Lights.
The Northern Lights' defense accounted for two fumble recoveries, one by senior defensive lineman
Tyler Craig, one by junior linebacker
Garet Fowler, and a blocked 26-yard field goal by sophomore defensive back
Sherman Arthur. The Fighting Saints were held scoreless through the first half of action.
On the offensive end, the Lights found the end zone four times as senior running back
Zach McKinley rushed for three touchdowns (24-yards, 5-yards, 18-yards respectively) and junior quarterback
Jess Krahn connected with sophomore fullback
Wyatt McKinlay for a 6-yard touchdown pass.
The Lights offense capitalized on the defensive play. Northern totaled 43 total tackles (5 for losses), 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception, and a blocked field goal. Northern took down nationally ranked Carroll College with a score of 28-14.
The Lights move to 1-2 in the Frontier Conference and will look to carry their momentum into their next game as they take on No. 22 University of Montana Western in Dillon on Sept. 24 at 1 pm.
