Montana-Western routes Lights 50-6

Box Score Dillon, Mont.- The Northern Lights football traveled to Dillon this weekend to face No. 22 Montana-Western at Vigilante Stadium.  They had secured a win last week against No. 21 Carroll College (28-14) and prepared to take on another tough opponent in the Bulldogs.

To start the game the Bulldogs forced the Lights to punt after their first four possessions.  Montana-Western scored on two rushing touchdowns and a touchdown pass to finish the first quarter up 21-0.
The Lights got on the board two minutes into the second quarter as junior kicker Tommy Langley nailed a 38-yard field goal to make the score 21-3.  Montana Western would go on to score three more times before the half.  A 29-yard field goal, a 2-yard touchdown pass off of an interception thrown by junior quarterback Jess Krahn, and a rushing touchdown (22-yards) would put the Bulldogs up 38-3 at halftime.
To start the third quarter Northern forced the Bulldogs to punt on their first possession.  This would lead to Tommy Langley's second field goal (28-yards) to make the score 38-6, it would also be the last time the Lights would score in the ballgame.

Montana-Western scored on their second field goal (35-yards), another touchdown pass (8-yards), and a safety caused by the Bulldog defense.  The final score of the game was 50-6.

Senior running back Zach McKinley rushed for 71 yards on 23 carries while Jess Krahn passed for 139 yards on 20 completions (two sacks and two interceptions).

On the defensive end, senior defensive back Logan Sprouse tallied 12 tackles and a fumble recovery.

MSU-Northern will utilize a bye week next weekend and prepare to face Eastern Oregon University on October 8th for a 6:00 PM game under the lights at Blue Pony Stadium.
