Box Score Havre, Mont.-  In their first home game of the New Year,  the No. 11 Skylights were upset by Rocky Mountain College.  The final score of the game was 60-58 in favor of the Battlin' Bears.  With the loss, Northern moves to 3-2 in Frontier Conference play (13-3 overall).

Northern and Rocky battled from start to finish in a game that saw the score tied 10 times and had 10 different lead changes.  

Junior guard Jacy Thompson connected on back-to-back baskets that put the Skylights up by four early in the quarter.   At the end of the first stanza, the Skylights led 8-7.   Northern built a seven point lead midway through the second quarter, but Rocky went 4-4 from the free throw line and hit a three point shot to tie the game at 24-24 going into halftime.  
RMC held off Northern for the entire third quarter and took a 46-43 lead into the final stanza.  With 5:48 left to play in the game and Rocky up 55-49, the Skylights went on a 6-0 run to bring the score within two points.  A crucial basket inside the paint by senior forward Sierra Richards with 1:28 left put the Skylights up 58-57.  Rocky answered with a shot in the paint to regain the lead at 59-58 and never looked back.  On a last second shot by the Skylights to win the game, the ball hit just left of the iron to give Rocky the victory.

The Skylights were led by Richards, who notched another double double on the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Also scoring in double digits were junior forward Cydney Auzenne with 12 points and senior guard Natalee Faupel with 10 points.

Northern looks to bounce back and defend home court as they host the Montana Western Bulldogs tomorrow night in another Frontier Conference matchup.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm and live stats/video feed are available on the Skylight's schedule page.
