Havre, Mont.- It's one gutsy win after another for the MSU-Northern Skylights. On Friday night, in front of a full house at the Armory Gymnasium, the No. 11 Skylights pulled off a 47-43 win over Carroll College in what was a defensive slugfest.

Northern trailed Carroll 13-7 early, but 3-pointers from Molly Kreycik, Peyton Filius and Cydney Auzenne brought the Skylights back to lead 24-21 at the half. Carroll and Northern traded punches in the third, but a three by Bailey Pasta proved to be the difference as Carroll led by two with 10 minutes left.

Northern wrestled the lead away from the defensive minded Saints with four straight points by Natalee Faupel, but buckets by Pasta and Cassidy Hashley, who scored a game-high 18 points for Carroll, cut Northern's lead down to 45-43 with 1:32 to play. Faupel answered that flurry with a score at the 1:09 mark, and MSU-N's tenacious defense held Carroll scoreless the rest of the way.

Faupel paced the Skylights with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Kreycik added 11 and Auzenne scored nine. Northern also out-rebounded the Saints 47-43 and held Carroll to a season-low 18 percent from the 3-point-line in a win that pushed the Skylights to 7-3 in the Frontier Conference and 17-4 overall. Carroll, which lost to MSU-N for the second time this month, fell to 3-5 in the Frontier.

The Skylights now go on the road for six straight games, including trips to Rocky and Western this weekend.
