Story of the Game
The MSU-Northern Lights were once again on the road as they traveled to La Grande, OR to take on the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University. EOU capitalized on three Lights' turnovers (two interceptions and a fumble) and used six rushing touchdowns to claim the victory 41-12. Â
Stat of the Game
13 different Lights made at least one catch on the night to total 152 yards. Leading the way was senior wideout
Donovan Garner with four receptions for 36 yards while junior receiver
Fotios Jordanoglou hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass (his only catch of the game).
Turning Point
After the Mountaineers scored on their first two possessions of the game, the Lights used a 31-yard field goal by senior kicker
Tommy Langley and a safety on a high snapped punt to make it 5-14 going into halftime. On the first play of the third quarter, junior quarterback
Tommy Wilson was sacked and fumbled the ball at the 1-yard line. EOU scored on the very next play to put the game at 20-5. A failed fourth down conversion on the next drive by the Lights gave the Mountaineers the ball back and they scored on a 3-yard run to move the score to 27-5.
The Lights So Far
Northern sits 0-5 in Frontier Conference play and 1-5 overall (with the non-conference win over Mayville State).
