Lights Football Wraps Up Season

Story of the Game
The Lights football team wrapped up their 2017 campaign with a 22-45 loss to the College of Idaho Yotes in Caldwell, Idaho this past weekend.  Junior Quarterback Tommy Wilson put up 276 passing yards to go along with three passing touchdowns.

Stat of the Game
Nine different Lights made at least one reception on the day, with freshman Marvin Williams pacing the team with 157 yards on five catches and two touchdowns while senior wideout Beau Wilhelm brought in two catches for 42 yards.

Turning Point
In the first quarter of action, the Lights stayed within striking distance of the Yotes as Wilson connected with Williams on a 13-yard touchdown pass to put the score at 6-7.  CofI scored again late in the stanza to move ahead 14-6, but another Wilson-Williams connection (this time for an 84-yard touchdown) in the opening stages of the second quarter brought the Lights within one-point at 13-14.  The Yotes scored twice more before halftime and senior kicker Tommy Langley drilled a 41-yard field goal as time expired to pull the Lights within 12 points at 16-28 going into intermission.
The second half started with both teams trading punts followed by a C of I field goal to put the score at 16-31.  Towards the end of the fourth quarter, Wilson threw his third touchdown to freshman receiver Caymus Thomas from 17-yards out to move to 22-45.  A successful onside kick recovery by the Lights on the ensuing play was too little too late as time expired before Northern could score again.

The Lights Final Record
The Northern Lights finished the season 0-10 in Frontier Conference play and 1-10 overall (win coming against Mayville State back in September).
