Story of the Match:
The MSU-Northern Skylights volleyball team played in a Frontier Conference matchup against (RV) Carroll College on Tuesday night. The MSU-Northern Skylights won in five sets (26-24, 26-24, 14-25, 19-25 and 15-13).
The first set was a battle, as the Burmester was able to get the kill to tie the game (24-24). The Skylights took the advantage and won. In the second set, Northern took the lead early. The Saints came back to take the lead. However, the score went back and four until Maddock got a kill to tie the score (24-24). Northern kept the streak going for the next two points to take the set.
In the third and fourth set, the Skylights started out slow and couldn't keep up with the Saints. Northern went on a 4-0 run in the start of the fifth set. Carroll was able to come back to take it. However, the Skylights went on a 4-1 run to win the match.
Stars of the Match:
The Skylights attack was led by Rylee Burmester, who tallied 18 kills and added 17 digs. Elissa Lind had 13 kills and 17 digs. Emily Feller led the team in assists with 53. Abigail Ellison led the team in digs with 22.
The Saints were led by Taelyr Krantz and Lexi Mikkelson, who each had 13 kills. Lexi Gleasman added 12 kills. Kylie Kackman led the team with 24 assists in the match. Julia Carr led the team with 49 digs.
Stats of the Match:
MSU-Northern had a hitting percentage of .124 on the day, while the Saints hit .182. The Skylights had 58 assists, as Carroll had 51. Northern also had 132 digs to Carroll's 135.Â
