Vanek and Siegel named All-American after Day 1

The first day of NAIA National Championships are a wrap in Wichita, Kansas. The Lights will take NaKoda Siegel and Austin Vanek Day two of the tournament.  Siegel will compete in the semifinals tomorrow.
 
149-No. 7 Martin Wilkie won by an injury to Tyler Okada (Waldorf). Wilkie lost against No. 10 Jace Luchau (Cumberlands) by a fall 4:36. He won against Steven Wathers (MOVA) by a decision 12-5 in his first consolation round. Wilkie win by a decision 5-0 against No. 15 Dallas Koetzer (BAKA). He lost out to Trent Johnson by a close decision 4-2.
 
165-Devin Crawford falls in his first match by a major decision 13-4 against No. 16 Joey Handcock (Baker). Crawford won in his first consolation round against No. 15 Zabder Ernst (MORN) by a fall 6:24. He won against Braeden Baller (TXWL) by a Sudden victory-1 8-6. Crawford lost out to No. 12 Matt Jenkins by a decision 8-1.
 
174-No. 4 NaKoda Siegel beat Jordan Lomeli (Ottawa) by a decision 10-5. Siegel won by a decision 8-5 against Makail Stanley (William Penn). He won against No. 5 Stephen Kelle (SEFL) by a decision 6-1 to move onto the semifinals tomorrow.
 
174- Rylin Burns upset No. 7 Alex Hernandez in sudden victory 3-1. He lost his second match against No. 10 Douglas Peppers (Southeastern) by a decision 5-1.  Burns won against Michael Scarponi (DONE) by a sudden victory-1 6-4. Rylin lost by a close decision of 3-2 against No. 15 Cameron Young Leggett (OTTA).
 
184- Austin Vanek lost his first match by a fall 1:28 against No. 7 Sawyer Hobbs (Providence). Vanke beat Austin Antcliffe (CMTN) by a decision 8-4. He won by a decision 19-12 against No. 9 Kyle Kundtson (EOU). Vanek won against Thomas Ketchen-Cater (CMSK) by a injury :14. Vanek won by a decision 8-2 against No. 6 Hayden Wempen.
 
197-No. 11 Carl Hansen received a bye his first round. Hansen beat in his match against No. 6 Marco Retano (Eastern Oregon) by a sudden victory-1 8-6. He lost to No. 3 Owen Braungardt (Grandview) by a fall 2:04. Hansen lost against No. 16 Elijah Hynes by a 2-1.
