The Montana State University–Northern Lights defeated Bushnell University 82–66 in a hard-fought battle in Great Falls.
The Lights came out strong, using balanced scoring and tough defense to take control early. Northern held a slim 41–33 advantage at halftime, capitalizing on efficient shooting and solid work on the glass.
In the second half, Bushnell made several runs to keep the game close, but the Lights responded each time with key buckets and stops. Down the stretch, Northern's poise and defense sealed the victory as they held the Beacons scoreless over the final minute.
Austin Ramos led the way with 24 points going 8 of 13 and seven rebounds. Cinque Maxwell had 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including two three-pointers. Leon Sayers IV added 13 points and five rebounds.
As a team, Northern shot 59 percent from the field. The Lights' defense proved the difference, limiting Bushnell to tough looks late in the game.
Bushnell was led by Rylan Donovan with 22 points, while Kaleb Burnett added 12.
With the win, Lights improves to 2–1 to start the season. The Lights will look to build on the victory as they head to Walla Walla University on Nov. 10 at 5pm.
