In a strong all-around performance on Sunday night in
Havre, Montana, the
Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team cruised to a convincing
95–47 win over
Lakeland University.
Northern controlled the game from start to finish, using efficient scoring, balanced offense, and solid defense to pull away steadily. The team shot
56.3 percent from the field and got contributions up and down the roster, while holding Lakeland to
36.2 percent shooting overall.
Balanced Scoring Powers Northern
Montana State-Northern got scoring from multiple players, with
Tracen Jilot leading the way with
21 points, including key buckets that helped stretch the lead.
Cinque Maxwell added
16 points, while
Austin Ramos and
Claysen Delp each scored
14 points to maintain Northern'soffensive pace.
Reserve guard
Raefe McEnroe provided a spark off the bench with
10 points, and
Jeffrey Tjelde chipped in
8 points, showing depth and versatility across the roster.
Northern attacked effectively from multiple areas:
- The team made 40 of 71 shots overall (56.3 percent), including 8 of 24 from beyond the arc, and knocked down 7 of 8 free throws.
- Northern out-rebounded Lakeland 37–22, helping generate extra opportunities on offense.
- The team also dished 13 assists, showing good ball movement throughout the night.
Lakeland Struggles to Keep Pace
Lakeland was led by
Taleh Wade, who scored a team-high
18 points and hit several shots from deep.
Isreal Ogbebor added
10 points, and
Matthew Bryant chipped in
8 points for the visitors. However, Lakeland's offense was inconsistent and the team shot below 37 percent from the field.
The Lights will play tomorrow against Lakeland at 3pm in an exhibition game.
