Skylights Basketball beats Lakeland 120–31

Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team delivered one of its most dominant performances of the season, overwhelming Lakeland University with a final score of 120–31.

From the opening tip, Northern set a blistering pace, using suffocating defense and explosive offense to race to an early lead. The home team never trailed, outscoring Lakeland in each quarter and building a lead that continued to grow as the game progressed.

Northern shot efficiently as a team, finishing with 46 of 89 field goals made (51.7  percent) and hitting 13 of 35 three-pointers. The team also converted 15 of 21 free throws and distributed the ball well, recording 31 assists. On the boards, Northern dominated with 57 rebounds compared to Lakeland's 26.

Leading the charge for Northern were several standout performers:
  • Eva Yeadon was the game's leading scorer with 19 points, displaying her ability to score from inside and beyond the arc.
  • Addie Kiefer added 17 points, and Canzas HisBadHorse also chipped in 17, providing a consistent scoring punch throughout the night.
  • Becky Melcher contributed 15 points, including multiple three-points, and Kaitlyn Hammett scored 11, rounding out Northern's balanced offensive attack.
  • Taya Trottier scored 10 points, while Ciera Agasiva added 12 to help Northern's starters set the tone early.
Lakeland faced challenges on both ends of the floor, shooting 12 of 58 from the field (20.7 percent) and managing only 5 of 23 from three-point range. Free throws were one of the few bright spots for Lakeland, as the team knocked down both attempts.

Despite the loss, Declynn Wood led Lakeland's scoring with 7 points, while Taylor Hebert and Reese Fenrich each scored 6. Contributions from other players provided occasional offensive sparks, but Northern's defense limited sustained momentum for the visitors.

The Skylights move to 9-3 overall. They will head to North Dakota this weekend to play in two Frontier Conference match ups against Valley City State and Mayville State University on Friday and Saturday.
