Skylights Drop Four-Set Battle to RV Carroll College

The MSU-Northern Skylights fell in four sets to RV Carroll College (15-25, 25-16, 21-25, 18-25) on the road Saturday night.

Carroll came out strong in the opening set, jumping to a 7-2 lead and controlling the pace to take the frame. Northern responded in the second, using an early 12-7 advantage and closing on a dominant 7-0 run to even the match at one set apiece.

Set three saw the Skylights surge ahead 8-6 with a 5-1 run, but Carroll quickly answered out of a timeout and regained the lead with runs of their own, pulling away late. The fourth was tightly contested until the Fighting Saints closed on a decisive 6-0 run to secure the win.

The Skylights tallied 47 kills, 11 blocks, and 84 digs while hitting .141 as a team. Macee Selman paced Northern with 13 kills, 21 assists, and 18 digs. Addison Falls Down added 16 assists, while Baily Egan anchored the defense with 23 digs.

Carroll countered with 55 kills, a .196 hitting percentage, 6 aces, and 52 assists. Taysa Conger led with 10 kills on .400 hitting, Jansyn Carrizales dished out 22 assists, and Molly O'Connor collected 21 digs.

MSU-Northern moves to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in Frontier Conference play. The Skylights now turn to a three-match home stretch next week, beginning with No. 5 Providence on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m., followed by Valley City State on Friday at 7 p.m., and Mayville State on Saturday at 5 p.m.
