The
Montana State University‑Northern Lights put together a commanding performance on both ends of the floor to defeat
Providence (MT) men's basketball, 102–78. Northern controlled the game from start to finish, outscoring Providence in both halves and breaking the contest open with strong shooting and balanced scoring.
The Lights jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, building a large advantage in the first half and continuing to extend it after halftime. The team shot efficiently, connecting on 58 percent of its field goals overall, including nearly 43 percent from three-point range.
Northern's offense was paced by
Austin Ramos, who led all scorers with
23 points, attacking the rim and hitting from deep.
Luke Holecek added
20 points, while
Raefe McEnroe supported with
17 points, giving the Norse multiple options scoring in double figures.
Claysen Delp also contributed a well-rounded game with
10 points and 8 assists, helping maintain the team's intensity on both ends.
Providence received a strong effort from
Marvel Chambers Jr., who led the Argos with
20 points, knocking down timely baskets as Providence attempted to stay close early.
Marcus Lawson added
15 points, and
Brendan Redhead chipped in
13 points, but the Argos struggled to contain Northern's balanced attack.
Montana State-Northern's stifling defense and efficient shooting created separation that Providence could not overcome, as the hosts-maintained control throughout and finished with a convincing 24-point victory.
The Lights move to 12-8 and 7-7 in Conference. The Lights will have the weekend off, as they travel to Dickinson and Bismarck next weekend.
