Skylights Cruises Past Mayville State, 93-62

The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team delivered a commanding road performance on Saturday, defeating Mayville State 93-62 in Frontier Conference play. The Skylights controlled the game from the opening tip and never looked back, outpacing the Comets in every quarter en route to a 31-point victory.

The Skylights came out with intent, jumping to a 26-13 first-quarter lead behind a balanced offensive attack and smothering defense. The Skylights maintained that dominance in the second quarter to carry a double-digit advantage into halftime.

The Skylights continued their offensive onslaught in the second half, steadily building the margin behind hot shooting and unselfish play. By the end of the third quarter, Northern had pushed the lead firmly beyond reach.

Key Contributors:
  • Becky Melcher led all scorers with 19 points, knocking down multiple threes.
  • Canzas HisBadHorse added 15 points, providing a consistent scoring presence inside and out.
  • Ciera Agasiva chipped in 14 points, including timely baskets that helped extend the lead.
  • Addie Kiefer also finished with 14 points, going a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line and contributing on both ends.
The Skylights shot efficiently as a team and capitalized on opportunities created by strong ball movement and defensive pressure.

For Mayville State, Laela Jensen paced the Comets with 14 points, while Nevaeh Tormaschy added 13 in the effort. Whitney Welk and Taylor Hill also provided scoring spark throughout the contest.

The Skylights improve to 11-3 overall and 7-2 conference. Northern head on the road against next week against Montana Western and Montana Tech on Friday and Saturday.
