The Montana State University-Northern Skylights fell on the road Friday night in Frontier Conference action, dropping an 89-69 decision to Rocky Mountain.
Rocky Mountain came out strong in the opening quarter, building a 27-18 lead after the first 10 minutes and carrying that momentum into halftime with a 46-30 advantage. The Battlin' Bears continued to control the pace in the third quarter, outscoring Northern 27-15 to extend the lead to 73-45 heading into the final frame. The Skylights showed fight in the fourth quarter, putting up 24 points, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Ciera Agasiva led the Skylights with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting while adding four rebounds. Taya Trottier contributed 13 points and six assists, and Lauren Gunn chipped in 12 points to round out Northern's top scorers. As a team, the Skylights shot 42.4 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three.
Rocky Mountain was highly efficient offensively, shooting 35-of-54 from the floor (64.8 percent). Brenna Linse paced the Battlin' Bears with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Isabelle Heggem recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while also dishing out six assists. Angelina Cavanaugh and Paige Wasson each added 15 points in the win.
The Skylights fall to 16-8 overall and 12-7 in Conference. Northern plays tomorrow in Helena against Carroll College.
