In a Frontier Conference matchup on February 20, the Montana Tech Orediggers earned an 83–64 road victory over Montana State University–Northern.
Montana Tech set the tone early, edging Northern 22–19 in the opening quarter before extending its lead in the second to take a 46–38 advantage into halftime. The Orediggers created separation in the third quarter, outscoring the Skylights 19–11 to push the margin to double digits. Northern battled in the fourth, but Tech maintained control to secure the 19-point win.
The Orediggers shot an efficient 53 percent from the field and showcased balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Halle Haber led the way with 18 points, while Liv Wangerin added 15 and Brooke Badovinac chipped in 14. Montana Tech also applied steady defensive pressure, finishing with nine steals and forcing key turnovers that led to transition opportunities.
Northern shot just over 41 percent from the floor and struggled to keep pace offensively.
Canzas HisBadHorse led the Skylights with 12 points off the bench, while
Ciera Agasiva and
Lauren Gunn each added 10. Despite competitive stretches, Northern was unable to overcome Tech's third-quarter surge.
The Skylights drop to 16-10 overall and 12-9 in Conference. They will play tomorrow on Senior Night against Montana Western in their last Conference game before the tournament.
