Northern Competes at Carignan Classic with Strong Distance Performances

The Northern track team competed at the Carignan Classic on Friday, turning in several solid performances across distance events.

In the women's 3,000 meters, Sierra Summers led the way for Northern, finishing fifth out of 19 runners with a strong time of 11:11.57. Deserae Toombs also competed in the event, crossing the line in 18th place with a time of 12:51.15. On the men's side, James Stensland-Plymale represented Northern in the men's 3,000 meters, placing 23rd with a time of 10:10.01.

Northern athletes also saw action in the 800 meters. Elizabeth DeVries finished 27th in the women's race with a time of 2:42.30, while Deserae Toombs and Emerson Kinsella followed closely behind, taking 29th and 30th, respectively.

In the one-mile run, Summers continued her strong day by placing 13th with a time of 5:25.15. DeVries finished 24th in 6:11.87, with Kinsella right behind her at 6:25.99. Stensland-Plymale also competed in the men's mile, recording a time of 4:51.62 to earn a 24th-place finish.

The Carignan Classic provided Northern with valuable early-season competition as the team continues to build toward the remainder of the indoor schedule.
