On Friday evening in Havre, Montana, the Skylights turned in a commanding performance to defeat Mayville State by a final score of 84–57 in Frontier Conference action.
The Skylights set the tone early, opening up a decisive lead in the first quarter and never looking back. Northern outscored Mayville State in three of the four quarters and showcased balanced offensive firepower, efficient shooting, and an active presence on the boards throughout the contest.
Senior guard Ciera Agasiva led all scorers with 22 points, connecting on four three-pointers and steadying Northern's offense. She was well supported by Taya Trottier, who added 19 points, and Canzas HisBadHorse, who contributed 16 points along with a team-high 10 rebounds to pace the Skylights efforts on both ends of the floor.
Northern shot a strong 47.7 percent from the field and an impressive 90.9 percent from the free-throw line, helping the team maintain consistent scoring pressure. Northern also won the rebounding battle, pulling down 37 boards to Mayville State's 23.
For Mayville State, Misti Zempel led the Comets with 18 points, while Whitney Welk contributed 12 points in the loss. Despite their efforts, Mayville State struggled to consistently keep pace with the Skylights offensive balance and size advantage.
The Skylights move up to 16-6 overall and 12-5 in Conference. They play tomorrow against Valley City State at home at 5pm.
