The Montana State University-Northern Skylights battled through five competitive sets Friday evening, earning a thrilling 3-2 victory over Rocky Mountain College at the Fortin Education Center.
Northern took the opening set 25-20 before Rocky Mountain responded with back-to-back set victories, taking the second 25-17 and the third 25-22. Facing a 2-1 deficit, the Skylights rallied in the fourth set, edging the Battlin' Bears 26-24 to force a decisive fifth set.
Northern finished the comeback by taking the fifth set 15-13, securing the five-set victory and improving to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Macy Uffelman led the Skylights offensively with 16 kills, while
Addison Falls Down added 13 kills.
Josie Hasler contributed nine kills, and
Kendall Scheffelmear posted eight kills while leading Northern with three blocks.
Emily Bird directed the Northern offense with 30 assists, while Falls Down added 20 assists. Defensively,
Kambria Maloy turned in a standout performance with a match-high 35 digs, while Uffelman added 23 and Hasler finished with 15.
Northern finished the night with 62 kills, 59 assists and 121 digs. The Skylights also recorded four service aces and four blocks in the victory.
