Blake Wilson (2nd Season)
Defensive Line Coach
Blake Wilson will be entering his second season as the Defensive Line Coach with the Montana State University-Northern football program for the 2020 season. He joined the Lights after spending the 2018 season at The University of San Diego as the Assistant Defensive Line Coach.
In the 2018 campaign, the Toreros Defensive Line racked up 21.5 sacks along with 49 tackles for a loss. Leading the charge was 2018 First Team All-PFL Defensive end Nick Fridel, as the Toreros won their fifth PFL Conference title in six years along with their third straight FCS Playoff appearance.
The 2020 campaign will see the Lights Defensive Line return all four starters from the 2019 season. Leading the way will be a pair of 3-year starters, in Joe Fehr, and Justin Pfeifer. Pfeifer was the anchor upfront last season in the run game, and looks to have a promising Redshirt Junior year. Joe Fehr lead the bunch with 6.5 TFL’s and 4 sacks.
A San Diego native, Wilson began his collegiate career at Southwestern Junior College in Chula Vista, CA. As a two year starter for the Jags at middle linebacker, Wilson earned All- Conference honors in 2014 as the team’s captain leading them to a 19-3 record in two seasons and back-to-back Bowl Victories. After his time with the Jags, Wilson earned a scholarship to DIV.1 FCS Charleston Southern University in South Carolina. Wilson was a member of the back-to-back Big South Conference Champions with the Bucs in 2015 and 2016, including back-to-back FCS Playoff appearances including a Quarter Final appearance in the 2015 season.
