Isaac Barrett will be entering his first season as the Lights Linebacker’s coach. He joined the Montana State University-Northern’s football program following coaching for Denver High School in Iowa during the 2020 fall season. Barrett was named Defensive Coach of the Year (District 4 1A) following the 2020 season.
Prior to coaching high school ball, Coach Barrett played intercollegiate football for five years at Upper Iowa University (Division II). He was a three-year starter at strong safety and voted team captain his senior season. Barrett racked up seventy-seven tackles and two interceptions his junior season. After accumulating thirty-nine tackles and one interception through six games in 2019 for his senior season, Barrett was sidelined the remainder of the season due to a foot injury. During his tenure with the Peacocks, Barrett collected over 140 tackles and 3 interceptions.
While playing football for UIU, Barrett received his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Studies with an emphasis in sport management. He also earned a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Upper Iowa in 2020. He graduated cum laude in both his undergraduate and masters degree.
