Ian Russell (1st season)
Ian will aid in all aspects of the program. His responsibilities will include but not be limited to assisting with scouting, recruiting, practice/workout planning, skill development, and travel. Ian also works in Student Support Services on campus, and enjoys being a part of student development.
Most recently, Ian worked as the Assistant Coach at Wenatchee Valley College in Wenatchee, WA (NWAC) under head coach Jeremy Harden (2020-22). He gained experience in academic development, on-court coaching, scouting, and recruiting. He also had the opportunity to play a key role in skill development, and they had two players move on to the D1 level and others to the NAIA level. Ian played a key role in their success in his first year at Wenatchee 2020-21 (COVID SEASON), when they won the East Region and went 12-2. In 2021-22, Wenatchee ranked #1 for most of the season, finished with the best record in program history at 15-1 in conference (28-4 overall), were East Region Champs, and reached the final four of the NWAC tournament. As a senior in college, he coached a local High School JV team, which helped him realize his passion for coaching and developing basketball players. While a student-athlete, he also did skill training with local High School and Junior High players.
Ian attended West Coast Baptist College (2016 – 2020) and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Education. He scored over 1,000 career points in his four years of basketball there. And, in 2019 and 2020 he earned First Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Region. He grew up in Senegal West Africa and Lancaster, CA, and graduated from Lancaster Baptist High School in 2016.
