Erin Markus is in her second season as an assistant coach at MSUN. She moved to Havre in 2023 and is currently a Professor of Business Administration in the College of Technical Sciences. Prior to her position at MSUN, she was a high school PE, Health, and Business teacher for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany from 2011 through 2023. Erin has a degree in Business from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master's Degree in Education from Boise State University.Â
During her time at Ramstein, she served as the head girls volleyball coach from 2011 through 2018, with her Lady Royals teams earning DoDEA-European Championship titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Erin was the school Athletic Director from 2018-2023. During her tenure at Ramstein, she was actively involved in planning and implementing volleyball camps and tournaments around Europe, providing learning and playing opportunities for military-connected children in the European Forces Theatre of Operations, working alongside renowned coaches from all over Europe and within the USA Volleyball organization.Â
Prior to moving to Germany, Erin spent many years coaching for various high school and club programs throughout the Pacific Northwest and California and was an accomplished beach volleyball player, playing in leagues and tournaments up and down the west coast. She attended high school at Esperanza HS in Anaheim, California and Redmond HS in Washington, and played club volleyball in both Southern California and Washington. Between the years of 1992 and 1996, She played collegiately at Highline College in Federal Way, Washington, and Central Washington University, before transferring to MSU in Bozeman, Montana, thus beginning her love for the beautiful state of Montana. While at Highline College, she was named NWAC 1st team as a setter and played in the regional All-Stars Match in 1995.Â
Erin met her husband, Christopher, in California. Christopher retired from the US Air Force in 2016 and they have 3 children, all of them are currently MSU students in Bozeman and Havre. Her father and sister live in Billings, and she is very happy to be back home near her family.
