Bo Bettinson, Assistant Coach, 3rd year
Coach Bettinson has made a major impact for the Lights in his first 2 seasons. In only his second season, the Lights earned their first ever NWCA All-Academic Team Title by dethroning 2-time defending scholastic champions Bethany College by having the highest GPA in the NAIA for Wrestling. Coach Bo is also making major changes in the room with his skillful development of the lightweight student-athletes.
Bo attended Waldorf University, located in Forest City, IA, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Foundations of Education. As a wrestler at Waldorf he competed at 125 pounds. Bettinson was a 4X NAIA national qualifier, finishing 2nd place at the Northern Regional tournament his senior season. During his 4 year collegiate career he amassed more than 100 wins while competing for Waldorf University.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree, Bettinson served as a Graduate Assistant for his alma mater. Bo received his Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Sports Management. During his two years as the Graduate Assistant, he also served as a volunteer coach for the Waldorf Women’s wrestling team.
Bo now resides in Havre with his wife Ali Bettinson. Ali also works at MSU Northern in the Admissions Department.
