Story of the Game
Four Skylights scored in double figures Saturday evening in their 77-48 win against Northwest University in the McLaughlin Center on campus of the University of Providence. The Eagle's point guard came into the game with a 21-point scoring performance from the night prior against the Argos, but was held to just three points by a suffocating Northern defense.
Stat of the Game
Northern's offensive execution helped them post an incredible 54.9 percent from the field (28-51). The Skylights also went 6-12 from the three-point line (50 percent). Junior forward
Lily Hilderbrand had a game-high 15 points, followed by guardsÂ
Peyton Filius and
Shiloh McCormick who each put up 12 points. Senior guard
Brandy Lambourne posted 10 points and five assists.
Turning Point
A strong defensive performance in the first quarter allowed the Skylights to move ahead 15-8. In the closing minutes of the second quarter, senior forward
Kealani Sagapolu collected her sixth defensive rebound of the half and hit a shot in the paint to give the Skylights the 26-10 lead. Northern extended the lead to 33-17 at the intermission. After giving up 10 points to the Eagles in the first five minutes of the stanza, the Skylight defense clamped down and held Northwest scoreless for the next five minutes to close out the third quarter up 61-27. Freshman guard
Naomi Terry connected with
McCormick on a transition lay-up early in the fourth quarter to give Northern their biggest lead of the game (39 points).

Northern moves to 4-1 on the season.

The Skylights are back home tomorrow afternoon as they take on GSAC foe San Diego Christian College. Tip-off time is scheduled for 4:00 PM at the Armory Gymnasium and all game links are available on the schedule page.
