Story of the Game
The Skylights faced the No. 20 Bruins in the opening round of the 2017 Big Sky Challenge in Butte, Mont. on Friday. Â Northern started off hot as they won the first set 25-21. Â After a back-and-forth battle, the Bruins came out on top and won the match 3-2 as the Skylights came up just short in the fifth set (6-15).
Stat of the Match
Northern tallied 13 total blocks, the most they've had in one match so far this season. Â Sophomore outside hitterÂ
Timi Severson paced the Skylights with 3 solos.
Turning Point
Early in the fifth set, Northern committed several attack and setting errors that allowed Bellevue to push their lead to six points (11-4). Â The Skylights were unable to rally back and eventually lost the match to the No. 20 Bruins.
The Skylights So Far
The loss moves the Skylights to 2-3 overall and snaps their two-game winning streak.

Story of the Game
In their second game of the day, the Skylights lost another close match in five sets to Evergreen State College.  Northern took the second and third set, but the Geoducks gained momentum in the fourth set that carried over into the fifth to claim the victory.
Stat of the Match
Northern was busy on the defensive end as they collected 90 total digs. Â Sophomore defensive specialist
Hannah Amtmann led the team with 32.
Turning Point
Midway through the fourth set, Evergreen State's offensive attack pushed them ahead to take an 11-6 lead.  From there, the Geoducks never looked back as the Skylights failed to regain the lead for the rest of the match.

The Skylights move to 2-4 overall after their second loss of the tournament.

Story of the Game
The No. 11 Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers proved to be too much for the Skylights as they won the match in three straight sets on the second day of the Big Sky Challenge.
Stat of the Match
Northern struggled on the offensive side of the net as they were held to just 25 kills (98 attempts) and a .143 hitting percentage. Â Senior outside hitter
Cassie Krueger led the team with nine kills off 33 attempts.
Turning Point
An 11 point run by EOU in the second set (13-3) didn't seem phase Northern as they put up their own nine point run to come within a point of the Mountaineers (16-17). Â The Skylights efforts weren't enough as EOU pulled away to win the set 25-19.

The Skylights move to 2-5 overall and are now on a three game losing streak.

Story of the Game
Northern claimed their first win of the Big Sky Challenge as they defeated UC Merced in five sets.  The Skylights took sets one and two, but were unsuccessful in finishing up the match in three as the Bobcats rallied back winning the third and fourth sets to push the match to a determining fifth set.  Ultimately, Northern came out on top as they won 15-11 in the fifth set.

Sophomore setter
Hailey Warren continued her solid play at the net as she dished out 46 assists in the match. Â She finished fourth overall at the Big Sky Challenge in assists as she racked up 127 in 17 sets.
Turning Point
After taking the first two sets and losing the next two, Northern didn't allow UC Merced to take a lead in the fifth. Â The Bobcats were able to tie the game at 4-4, but the Skylights pushed through and eventually came out on top winning 15-11.
The Skylights So Far
This win puts Northern at 3-5 overall and helped to snap a three-game losing streak.
Up Next
The Skylights will now travel to Atherton, Calif. on Sept. 1 and 2 to compete in the Menlo College Tournament.  They will take on Westmont College, San Diego Christian College, Menlo College, and William Jessup University. Live video and stat links will be posted in the schedule section as soon as they are made available.
