Story of the Game
After dropping their first game of Frontier Conference action in Billings on Thursday, the Skylights defeated the Bulldogs of Montana-Western in 5 sets at the Armory Gymnasium Saturday afternoon to claim their first conference win of the 2017 campaign.  
Stat of the Game
Senior outside hitter 
Cassie Krueger was dominating at the net as she went 23-52 with a hitting percentage of 0.327, having a game-high performance in both attacks and attempts.  
Turning Point
The Skylights won the first set 25-20, but dropped the next two sets to the Bulldogs.  The fourth set saw 10 lead changes and 12 ties, with the Skylights coming out on top 25-23.  The deciding fifth set was tied at 4-4, until the Skylights went on a five-point run to extended their lead 9-4 and eventually claim the victory.
The Skylights So Far
Northern moves to 1-1 in conference play and is tied for third with both Carroll College and Montana-Western in league standings.  They are 7-9 overall, three wins ahead of their record this time last season at 4-12.
Up Next
The Skylights are on the road once again as they take on the (RV) University of Providence in Frontier Conference play Thursday, Sept. 21.  The start time is 7:00 PM and will take place in the McLaughlin Center.  Game links will be posted in the schedule page as they are made available.
