Lights Drop Season Opener in Billings, 25-32

Story of the Game
The MSU-Northern Lights lose their 2017 season opener in dramatic fashion to the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears 25-32.

Stat of the Game
Junior quarterback Tommy Wilson led Northern's offense with 297 passing yards while throwing for three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Turning Point
The Lights led late in the fourth quarter after Tommy Wilson connected with senior wide receiver Beau Wilhelm on a 36 yard touchdown pass to put Northern up 25-24 at the 1:17 mark. On the following kickoff, the Lights gave up an 80 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to put RMC up 31-25 at the 1:02 mark.  With less than a minute remaining, Wilson marched his team down the field on connections with wide-outs Seth Roemmele and Marvin Williams.  The drive proved to be unsuccessful as Wilson threw his second interception of the game resulting in Rocky taking a knee as time ran out.
