Game Recap:
In the opening minutes of first half action, the Lights saw themselves down 0-7 to the No. 6 Carroll College Fighting Saints. Moments later, two free throws by senior guard
Charles Porter put Northern on the board for the first time down 2-7. For the remainder of the first half, the Lights continued to battle from behind by getting to the foul line (7-of-10) and forcing the Saints into committing six team turnovers. Sophomore guard
Adam Huse connected from deep as he pulled the Lights within eight points at the 1:10 mark. Carroll College went 1-of-2 from the charity stripe in the closing seconds to extend their lead to nine going into the locker room up 35-26.
The first three possessions of the second half saw a Porter three-point shot matched by Carroll, followed by junior guard
Gabe Porter hitting from downtown to pull Northern within six points (32-38). At the 14:13 mark, Carroll College moved ahead of the Lights by 12 at 50-38. Northern's pesky defense helped them fight back into the game and at the 2:16 mark, senior forward
Ryan Reeves cut the Saints' lead to just four points as he went 1-of-2 from the foul line. CC went 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the closing seconds of action to put the game away.
Reeves tallied his own double double by collecting 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Gabe Porter was the only other Light in double-digits with 10 points on 2-of-5 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line.
Stat of the Night: Six different Lights connected on shots from behind the arc (8-of-20 for 40 percent on the night). Reeves hadn't taken a three-point shot all year, but went 2-of-2 in the contest.
The Lights Now: Northern moves to 6-9 in conference play and 16-11 overall.
