Lights Pick Up Win over Battlin' Bears

Havre, Mont.  02/18/2018

Game Recap
The Northern Lights started off hot from beyond the arc with back-to-back buckets by juniors Gabe Porter and Justin Dunsmore to build an 8-2 lead at the 18:50 mark.  With the game tied at 19-19 at the 8:00 mark, sophomore guard Adam Huse connected from downtown to ignite a 10-4 run over the next three minutes.  At the intermission, Northern held the three-point lead over Rocky Mountain 38-35.
For much of the second half, both teams battled back-and-forth exchanging the lead 10 different times and tying the score six different times.  Rocky looked to gain some momentum late in the stanza after scoring in the paint to go up 64-61 with 4:19 remaining in the contest, but senior forward Cayeveoon "Paco" Jones quickly answered with a score in the paint and junior guard Caulin Bakalarski connected of 2-of-2 from the charity stripe to move ahead by one point at 65-64.  The Bears once again moved ahead off of a full court layup with 1:40 left of play, but Huse knocked down a long jumper with 1:13 on the lock to regain the lead at 67-66.  Senior forward Ryan Reeves collected his fourth block of the game on the ensuing play and the Lights converted on the offensive end with sophomore guard Devin Bray burying a three from deep to extend the Lights lead to 70-66 with just 24 seconds left on the clock.

Stat of the Night:  The Lights tallied 20 assists on the night (two more then their season average of 18) with dishing out a game-high five.

The Lights Now:  Northern is now 7-9 in the Frontier Conference and 17-11 overall.
