Lights Defeat Orediggers, Claim 4th Seed in Conference Tournament

Game Recap
The Northern Lights traveled to Butte to wrap up the regular-season with their third showdown against the Montana Tech Orediggers on Friday night.  The first half of action started with MTT drilling a three-pointer off the opening tip, but senior guard Charles Porter scored on the next possession to get the Lights on the board 2-3.  Midway into the stanza, junior guard Gabe Porter scored five unanswered points to spark an 11-0 run by the Lights that saw them up 31-20 at the 5:47 mark.  The Orediggers slowly chipped away at the lead, but fouled sophomore guard Adam Huse on a three-point shot with :05 left before the half.  Huse went 3-of-3 from the line to extend the Northern lead to 41-26 at halftime.
Northern held the lead for the entire second half, but MTT managed to pull within two points (60-62) with 3:42 left in the contest.  Senior forward Ryan Reeves moved the Lights ahead by seven points (73-66) with 1:10 on the clock, but the Orediggers again battled back after going 3-of-4 from the charity stripe to cut the lead to 73-69 with :58 to play.  Northern finished the last 40 seconds of play going 7-of-10 from the free throw line to complete the season sweep over the Orediggers 80-74.

Stat of the Night:  The Lights finished the game shooting 48 percent from the field (25-of-52) and 46 percent from beyond the arc (10-of-22).  Gabe Porter led Northern from deep after he connected on 4-of-7 from the three-point line.

The Lights Now:  The Lights end their regular season with a 9-9 conference record (19-11 overall).
