Game Recap:
The Skylights came out hot in their final regular-season game against the Montana Tech Orediggers in Butte on Friday evening. After MTT took the early lead off two free throws, senior guard
Brandy Lambourne hit a deep jumper with three seconds on the shot clock to put Northern on the board. With three defensive stops in a row and five unanswered points by freshman forward
Tiara Gilham, the Skylights moved ahead 7-2 at the 6:45 mark. At the midway point, sophomore guard
Shiloh McCormick grabbed an offensive rebound and put up a shot in the paint to extend the lead to 12-6. Moments later, McCormick scored again in the key and then hit a three-point shot in transition to move the Skylights ahead 18-8. Senior forward
Kealani Sagapolu went 2-of-2 from the free throw line with :09 left in the quarter to put Northern up 23-18, but a failed box out at the other end allowed MTT to score at the buzzer to end the quarter down 20-23. In the second quarter, Northern built a 10-point lead with 3:53 to play in the first half. To close out the half, Sagapolu connected with Gilham in the paint to extend the Skylight lead to 44-30. Northern spent a majority of the third quarter hanging on to a double-digit lead and carried that over into the last period due in large part to their full court pressure. With 4:39 to play in the fourth quarter, Lambourne led a fast break and McCormick dished to senior guard
Peyton Filius for the layup as the Skylights went up by 18 points (66-48). Northern got their largest lead of the game when freshman guard
Naomi Terry knocked down a three-pointer with :19 on the clock to put the Skylights up 75-54.
Stat of the Night:  Northern shot the ball well from everywhere on the court. They shot 48 percent from the field (29-of-60), 45 percent from beyond the three-point line (9-of-20), and went 89 percent from the free throw line (8-of-9). All five starters finished in double-digits on the night: Sagapolu had a game high 17 points, McCormick chipped in 15, Filius scored 13, and both Lambourne and Gilham tallied 11 points each.
