Skylights Win Thriller At Home

Story of the Game:
The MSU-Northern Skylights won 52-51 in a Frontier Conference matchup against Montana Tech on Friday night in Havre, Mont. Northern was up going into half time 26-25. Montana Tech had a big third quarter to take the lead by eight (42-34). The Skylights rally backed and went on a 10-0 run to tie the game with 4:03 on the clock. Tech went on a 6-0 run, as Tiara Gilham downed a three to put Northern down by one with :27 left on the clock (50-49). Celestina Faletoi was sent to the line to shot two free throws and went 1-2 (51-49). Sydney Hovde made the basket and got an and-one and made her free throw to clinch the win.


Individual Stats:
The MSU-Northern Skylights were led by Sydney Hovde with a double-double on the night with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sydney had six of their eight o-boards. Tiara Gilham had 12 points on the night going 5-9 from the field and 2-4 from behind the arc. Hailey Nichlson added eight points going 4-7 on the night.
 
The Orediggers were led by Dani Urick, who had 14 points on the night going 4-8 from the field. Mesa Williams had 11 points going 3-4 from behind the arc. Kaylee Zard had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Stats of the Game:
The MSU-Northern Skylights shot 41 percent from the field (21-51), and were 18 percent behind the arc (3-16) They went 7-13 from the free throw line (53 percent).
 
Montana Tech shot 34 percent from the field, 33 percent from behind the arc, and 15-19 from the foul line. 
 
The Skylights so Far:
The Skylights move to 12-14 in the overall season and 4-10 in conference play. The Orediggers drops to 3-10 in league play.

The Skylights will be on the road to Billings, Mont. in a Frontier matchup against No. 21 Rocky Mountain College on Thursday Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
