Lights Lose To The Fighting Saints

Story of the Game:
The MSU-Northern Lights played Carroll College on Saturday afternoon in Helena, Mont.  The Lights lost to the Fighting Saints 26-54.  Northern tallied 438 yards of total offense (389 passing and 49 rushing), while the Saints accounted for 480, of which 307 yards were on the ground. 

Individual Stats:
Northern quarterback Brenden Medina went 25 for 41 through the air for 389 yards and rushed for four touchdowns.  Marcin Williams Jr. caught eight passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns, while Bryce Bumgardner also had seven catches for 88 yards for one touchdown.  Cameron Taylor carried the ball nine times for 29 yards. Northern's defense was led by Japerri Powell who accounted for 16 total tackles (nine solo and seven assisted). Jeff Tinae added nine tackles. Hunter Riley punted four times for 142 yards.

The Saints quarterback Devan Bridgewater completed 11 of 20 passes for 173 yards and three touchdown. Running back Matthew Burgess carried the ball 16 times for 117 yards and one touchdown. Major Ali added a pair of touchdowns.  Shane Sipes led the receivers with six catches for 129 yards with one touchdown.  The defense was led by Matt Kvech who had 10 tackles (six solo and four assists). Zach Spiroff and Chase Bowen each had one interception.  Matt Kvech had three punts for 136 yards.

The Lights so Far:
The Lights drop to 1-3 on the season (1-2 Frontier), as Carroll College move to 2-1.

Up Next:
The Lights will be at home on Sept. 28 for Homecoming in a Frontier Conference matchup with (RV) Montana Tech.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
