The No. 19 MSU-Northern are off to the NAIA National championships. The Lights went 11-1 in their overall season. Nationals will be held on March 5-6 at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas. Matches will start on Friday March 5 at 9 a.m., as Saturday March 6 will start at 10 a.m.
Northern Lights had five athletes qualify for the 2021 NAIA National Championship.
Senior No. 6
Nick Kunz from Helena Montana will be competing at 133 lb. This will be his 4
th consecutive trip to NAIA National championships. This year Kunz had a record of 8-1. Kunz was the NAIA National Champion in 2020 at 125 lb. With being a National Champion, he also was an All-American. He went 1-2 his sophomore year at Nationals, as he went 2-2 his freshman year.
Senior No. 1
Isaac Bartel from Mason City, Iowa will be competing at 197 lb. This will also be his 4
th consecutive trip to NAIA national tournament. He is a 3x All-American looking for his fourth this year. Bartel had a record of 11-0 on the season. As a sophomore and junior, he was runner up at 197 lb. As a freshman, he placed 3
rd.
Senior No. 15
Chase Short from Great Falls, Montana will be competing at 175 lb. This will be his 3
rd consecutive journey to the NAIA National championships. This season he went 9-3. In 2020, he went 2-2 at Nationals. His sophomore year was his first trip to the NAIA National championships.
Freshman Conner Harris from Havre, Montana will be competing at 149 lb. This will be his first appearance at the NAIA National Championships. As a freshman, he went 8-0 on the season.
Sophomore
Carl Hansen from Elko, Nevada will be competing at 184 lb. This will be Hansen's first appearance at the NAIA National championships. Hansen went 10-0 on the season.
