Story of the Match:
The MSU-Northern Skylights volleyball team played their first game of the season against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona on Friday afternoon. The MSU-Northern Skylights lost in five sets (27-25, 22-25, 26-24, 13-25, and 14-16). The Skylights had a great first set, as the Eagles only led the set at the beginning of the game and a brief moment in the middle. Clack got a kill to keep the Eagles in the game at 24-24. Embry-Riddle had two attack errors, for Northern to take the set.
The second set was close, as Embry-Riddle started to extend the lead to 18-14. The Skylights didn't just roll over. The Eagles had two attack errors, which helped the Skylights tie the game 20-20. Embry-riddle was able to put together couple kills to win the set.
Embry-Riddle took the lead early in the match, until Burmester made the kill to tie the game at 12-12. The Eagles were able to take the lead and extend it to 22-16. The Skylights came back and outscored the Eagles to take the set.
In the fourth set, Embry-Riddle was able to take the lead early and never looked back. The fifth set was a thriller, as the game went back and forth. However, the Eagles was able to take the match.

The Skylights were led by
Rylee Burmester, who tallied 19 kills with nine digs. Bender, Graves, and Ellison each had 10 kills.
Shania Neubauer led the team in digs with 18.
Emily Feller led the team in assists with 39.
Embry-Riddle were led by Erin Clark with 33 kills and hitting .385 percent. Clark also accounted for 16 digs. Elisa Pauzer added 27 kills hitting .326 percent. Kat Yung led the team in digs with 29. Gordon and Rolle each had 37 assists on the night.
