Story of the Match:
The MSU-Northern Skylights volleyball team played against Wayland Baptist University in Arizona at the Ottawa Volleyball Tournament on Friday afternoon. The MSU-Northern Skylights lost in a tight game in four sets (23-25, 22-25, 25-22 and 21-25). The Skylights took a good lead at the end of the first set, but the Pioneers were able to battle back to tie the game 22-22. Patterson got the kill to take the lead, as they won the set.
The second set was anyone game, until the Pioneers took a good lead at the end of the set (17-21). The skylights couldn't keep up, as Wayland Baptist won the second set.
The Skylights took the lead early in the third set. They were able to extend the lead, as they took the set. In the fourth set, the Pioneers were able to take the lead early and keep a good lead to finish the match.

Stars of the Match:
The Skylights attack was led by
Rylee Burmester, who tallied 20 kills with 16 digs.
Alana Graves tallied 11 kills on the night.
Emily Feller led the team in assists with 37. The digs were led by
Shania Neubauer with 20.
Abigail Ellison added six assisted blocks, as well as eight kills.
Wayland Baptist University were led Paxton Patterson and Tatijana Markic, with each one having 20 kills. Markic added 13 digs on the night as well. Lucie Maheloua led the team with 54 assists and added 16 digs. Amber Daniel led the team in digs with 19 and added seven kills.
Stats of the Match:
MSU-Northern had a hitting percentage of .156 on the day, while the Pioneers hit .191. Northern also had 71 digs to Wayland Baptists 82. The Skylights accounted for 22 assisted blocks, as the Pioneers had 10.
