Lights Drop In Home Opener Against College Of Idaho

Story of the Game:
The MSU-Northern Lights played College of Idaho on August 28 in the afternoon in Havre, Montana.  The Lights lost to the Yotes 42-14.  Northern tallied 282 yards of total offense (126 passing and 156 rushing), while the Yotes accounted for 453, of which 294 yards were on the ground.  There were four sacks on the night (three on Northern and two on College of Idaho.

Individual Stats:
Northern quarterback Kaymen Cureton went 13 for 27 through the air for 126 yards. Cureton also rushed 16 time and went a net of 61 yards adding a touchdown. Izayah Boss carried the ball 15 times for 50 yards. Jake Horner had six catches on the night for 72 yards. Dorian Miles caught one passes for a touchdown. Dylan Wampler led the team in tackles with 12. Isaiah Paul added six tackles, one sack, one interception, and two breakups.

College of Idaho quarterback Jack Rice completed 11 of 21 passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Calzaretta carried the ball 19 times for 207 yards with two touchdowns. Hunter Juarez had four catches for 82 yards with one touchdown. The Yotes defense was led by Dylan Martinez, who had 15 tackles, 10 of which were solo. Martinez added one forced fumble, two tackles for loss, and helped with a sack. Isaiah Abdul added two interceptions.

The Lights so Far:
The Lights drop to 0-1 on the season. College of Idaho is 1-0 in the Frontier Conference.

Up Next:
The Lights will head to Ashland, Oregon for a matchup with Southern Oregon on September 4.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
