Skylights Sweep No. 24 Carroll College in Havre

 The MSU-Northern Skylights put together a strong all-around performance Friday night, sweeping No. 24 Carroll College in straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-22) inside the Armory Gymnasium.

Carroll jumped out to an early 11-6 lead in the opening set, but the Skylights responded with a 6-0 run to take their first lead at 16-14. The Fighting Saints regained the advantage briefly, but Northern battled back to close out the first set 25-22.

The second set was tight early on, with Carroll building a four-point lead midway through. Northern answered in dominant fashion, using a 10-1 run to seize control and take the set 25-21.

The Skylights carried that momentum into the third, racing out to a 16-8 lead. Carroll rallied to tie the set at 16-all, but Northern stayed composed, pulling away late to secure the sweep and the upset win over the nationally ranked Saints.

The Skylights tallied 40 kills, hitting .120 as a team, while collecting 102 digs, 38 assists, and 8 aces.

·         Lexi Jones led the attack with 11 kills on an impressive .529 hitting percentage.

·         Macee Selman added 9 kills, 14 assists, and 21 digs.

·         Bailey Egan anchored the defense with 30 digs, while Addison Falls Down dished out 18 assists to lead the team.

Carroll finished with 37 kills on .067 hitting, along with 96 digs and 32 assists. McKaila Balcom led the Saints with 11 kills and a .194 hitting percentage, while Jansyn Carrizales recorded 19 assists and Sofia Kimmel posted 22 digs.

The Skylights (10-9 overall and 8-5 Conference) will be back in action Saturday evening, hosting Rocky Mountain College at 5 p.m. following the Lights football game.
