The MSU-Northern Skylights swept Rocky Mountain College in three sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-15) on Saturday night in Havre, Montana.
Northern jumped out to an early lead in the first set, keeping a slim advantage as the Battlin' Bears stayed within striking distance. The Skylights closed on a 3-0 run to secure the opening set. Carrying that momentum into the second, Northern built a quick 10-3 lead and never looked back, taking a 2-0 lead in the match. The Skylights controlled the third set from start to finish, pushing the lead to 19-11 before closing it out for the sweep.
The Skylights posted 53 kills with a .261 hitting percentage, along with 87 digs and 52 assists. Lexa Stock led the attack with 12 kills and a .276 hitting percentage, while Josie Hasler added 11 kills and 13 digs. Emily Bird tallied 23 assists and eight digs, and Macee Selman contributed 21 digs and 18 assists.
Rocky Mountain finished with 24 kills on a .043 hitting percentage, along with 22 assists and 60 digs. Olivia Fauth led the Bears with seven kills (.235), while Kristyn Mentink added 10 assists and five digs. Zoey Albert anchored the defense with 15 digs.
With the win, the Skylights improve to 11-9 overall and 9-5 in Frontier Conference play. Northern will be on the road next week, visiting Mayville State on Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. and Valley City State on Oct. 18 at 1 p.m.
