Skylights Sweep (RV) Orediggers Behind Balanced Attack and Strong Defense

The Montana State University–Northern Skylights earned a 3‑0 road victory over the (RV) Montana Tech Orediggers on Friday, showing balance, poise, and depth in all phases of the game. Set scores were 25‑19, 25‑14, 25‑22.

Northern rebounded quickly from early challenges to dominate the match offensively and defensively. The Skylights finished with 41 kills on 107 attacks, hitting .308 as a team, while limiting Montana Tech to 39 kills on 124 attacks (.169). Northern also controlled the net, recording 9 total blocks and 9 aces to disrupt Tech's offense.

Leading the way for the Skylights: For the Orediggers, Payton Treadwell led with 12 kills (.310), while Kinnidi Willmore added 9 kills, and 1 block assist. Brooklynn Hayes contributed 14 digs, anchoring Tech's defense.

Northern's consistent attack, strong serving, and disciplined blocking allowed them to maintain control throughout the match. Montana Tech showed flashes of competitiveness, particularly late in the third set, but Northern's balanced offense and defensive composure proved too much.

The win improves the Skylights' conference record to 15-7 and provides momentum as they continue in to the Frontier Conference Tournament next weekend in Helena. Watch for updates on MSU-Northern Athletics Facebook page or golightsgo.com page.
