Skylights Open Conference Play with Four-Set Win over Rocky

The MSU-Northern Skylights picked up a big road victory to start Frontier Conference play, defeating Rocky Mountain College in four sets (22-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-20) on Friday night in Billings.

The Battlin' Bears struck first, edging Northern in a back-and-forth opening set with a 5-1 run to close it out. The Skylights answered in the second, overcoming a 7-0 Rocky surge midway through the set with a late 7-1 push of their own to even the match.

From there, Northern seized control. Behind strong serving and efficient offense, the Skylights dominated the third set 25-12. In the fourth, the teams traded points until Northern rattled off a 7-0 run to take the lead for good, closing out the win.

The Skylights finished with six aces, 52 kills, a .167 hitting percentage, and an impressive 91 digs. Macee Selman led the way with a standout all-around performance—12 kills on .346 hitting, 17 assists, and 14 digs. Addison Falls Down added 27 assists, while Josie Hasler anchored the defense with 22 digs.

Rocky hit .090 as a team, tallying 44 kills, 41 assists, and 82 digs. Josie West paced the Bears with 13 kills and 17 digs, while Meredith Marsh contributed 19 assists and nine digs. Lauren Rodacker chipped in 20 digs defensively.

With the win, MSU-Northern moves to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in Frontier Conference play.
