The game began with both teams trading early baskets. Tech struck first with an early jumper, but Northern quickly responded as
Austin Ramos nailed a triple to give the Lights an early edge. The first half stayed competitive, with both sides exchanging baskets and defensive stops. Montana Tech's Brayden Koch hit a key 3-pointer and Asher Williams scored inside to help Tech take a
37-33 lead into the break.
In the second half, Montana Tech extended its advantage thanks to consistent scoring from the perimeter and strong contributions from its bench. Koch continued his hot shooting, and
Ethan Venema connected on timely shots that pushed the lead. Northern battled back with efforts from
Leon Sayers IV and
Luke Holecek, but Tech maintained control with a combination of defensive pressure and smart offense.
Despite a late push from Northern, including multiple made free throws and hustle plays, Montana Tech closed out the game by hitting key buckets down the stretch and limiting Northern's scoring opportunities in the final minutes.
Montana State-Northern:
- Austin Ramos – Led Northern with 14 points, including several triples that kept the Lights within striking distance.
- Leon Sayers IV – Contributed 13 points and strong rebounding in a tough effort.
- Claysen Delp – Scored 10 points, adding valuable perimeter shooting for Northern.
Montana Tech:
- Brayden Koch – Led all scorers with 19 points, knocking down multiple threes and making his presence felt offensively.
- Asher Williams – Finished with 16 points, including clutch free throws that helped Tech maintain its lead.
- Ethan Venema – Added 10 points, providing balance on offense and energy throughout the second half.
