Northern Lights pulled away in the second half to defeat
Carroll College 89–73 in Frontier Conference men's basketball action on Friday night in Havre.
Northern came out firing in the first half, building a
16-point lead (46–30) at the break behind efficient shooting and aggressive play from its backcourt. The host Lights shot over 57 percent from the field and hit
54 percent from three-point range, forcing Carroll to play catch-up in the second half.
Guard
Austin Ramos paced Lights with 21 points, hitting five three-pointers and providing a consistent scoring threat throughout the night.
Cinque Maxwell added 13 points, while
Leon Sayers IV chipped in 17 points and hit key shots inside to help Northern sustain its early momentum. Reserves like
Tracen Jilot and
Luke Holecek also made significant contributions, combining for 24 points off the bench and keeping Carroll at arm's length.
Carroll struggled to slow down Northern's balanced scoring attack and faced difficulty shooting from long range, finishing
26.1 percent on three-point attempts for the game. The Fighting Saints got solid play from
Drew Jones, who led Carroll with 23 points and hit multiple triples, and
Isaiah Crane, who added 18 points. However, Carroll never fully closed the gap in the second half as Montana State-Northern continued to hit timely shots and protect its lead.
The Lights improve to 11-7 overall and 6-6 in Conference. The Lights will host (RV) Rocky Mountain College tomorrow at 7pm.
