In another spirited display of Frontier Conference women's basketball action, No. 18
Rocky Mountain College pulled out a hard-fought
81–74 victory over
the (RV) Skylights at the Armory Gymnasium in Havre on Saturday afternoon.
The Battlin' Bears took control early with an aggressive offensive start, outscoring the Skylights in the opening quarter and building momentum they would carry through much of the game. Rocky Mountain's scoring balance and shooting efficiency allowed them to establish a lead that they consistently defended in the second half.
Senior standout
Paige Wasson led the way for Rocky Mountain, exploding for
32 points on strong overall shooting, including
five made three-pointers. Her offensive outburst kept the Bears in front when Northern applied pressure, and she was backed by an equally impactful performance from
Brenna Linse, who chipped in
17 points and 11 rebounds, anchoring both the scoring and rebounding effort for her team.
Rocky Mountain's offensive balance proved difficult for Montana State-Northern to contain. The Bears consistently found scoring opportunities in transition and capitalized on key possessions late in the game — including clutch shots that maintained their lead in the final minutes.
Despite the loss, the Skylights mounted a resilient effort, led by
Taya Trottier, who scored
18 points and demonstrated precision from behind the arc and at the free-throw line.
Ciera Agasiva added
18 points, attacking the paint with confidence, while
Lauren Gunn contributed a solid
15 points.
Montana State-Northern rallied several times during the contest and trimmed the deficit with timely baskets, but Rocky Mountain's depth and scoring punch ultimately proved decisive. The final minutes saw Rocky Mountain hold off several Northern pushes to close out the seven-point win.
The Skylights drop 12-6 overall and 8-5 in Conference. The Skylights will play against University of Providence on Tuesday at 5pm in Havre.
