The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team dropped a Frontier Conference matchup to Bellevue University on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Bruins in straight sets, 25-17, 25-14, 25-19.
The Skylights battled throughout the match but Bellevue's offensive efficiency proved to be the difference. The Bruins finished the afternoon with 49 kills and hit .268 as a team, while Northern recorded 26 kills and hit .081.
Northern was led offensively by
Josie Hasler, who recorded six kills and added a team-high 15 digs.
Caleigh Case contributed five kills and led the Skylights with three blocks, while
Macy Uffelman added four kills, two blocks and 11 digs.
At the service line,
Kambria Maloy paced Northern with two aces, while
Addison Falls Down and
Emily Bird each added one. Bird also directed the Northern offense with 13 assists, with Falls Down contributing seven assists.
The Skylights opened the match with nine kills in the first set but Bellevue answered with 14 kills and hit .265 to take the opening frame, 25-17. Northern continued to battle in the second set, but the Bruins pulled away late to take it 25-14. Bellevue closed out the match with a 25-19 third-set victory.
Bellevue was led by
Bentlee Kollbaum, who finished with 14 kills, while Sophia McIntyre added eight kills and three blocks. Zoie Roghair recorded a match-high 18 digs for the Bruins.
With the loss, Northern moves to
8-9 overall and 4-7 in Frontier Conference play, while Bellevue improves to
13-2 overall and 11-0 in conference action.
