The
Rocky Mountain vs. Lights› featured a competitive Frontier Conference men's contest at the Fortin Education Center, as
Rocky Mountain held off a late push from
Montana State-Northern to secure a
75-69 victory.
Rocky Mountain jumped out early and maintained a lead for much of the night, thanks in part to balanced scoring and efficient offense. The Battlin' Bears shot
43.8 percent overall and made
7 of 19 three-point attempts, while controlling the glass with a
29-25 rebounding advantage. Northern stayed within striking distance throughout but couldn't quite complete the comeback in the final minutes.
Senior forward
Royce Robinson led Rocky Mountain with 23 points, adding strong play around the basket and contributing to his team's offensive rhythm.
Carter McCoy chipped in 14 points, showing efficiency from inside, while
Jacob Bilodeau added 12 points including several timely baskets from beyond the arc. The Bear defense also forced
14 turnovers from Montana State-Northern, converting some into key scoring opportunities.
For Northern,
Cinque Maxwell paced the offense with 23 points on high shooting efficiency, including multiple field goals that kept the Lights close throughout.
Austin Ramos added 12 points, and
Leon Sayers IV chipped in another 12 to spark Northern's scoring. Despite shooting
56.3 percent from the field in the first half, Northern could not sustain that mark through the second half and fell just short.
Lights fall to 16-9 overall and 11-8 in Conference. The Lights play Carroll College tomorrow in Helena at 7pm.
