Montana State University-Northern Lights delivered an impressive performance in Frontier Conference men's basketball action, dominating
Valley City State by a final score of
91–58 on Saturday night. The victory improves Northern's conference mark and underscored their balanced offensive attack and stout defense.
Northern seized control early and never relinquished the lead, outscoring Valley City State by 20 points in the first half and maintaining momentum throughout the second. The Skylights led
47–28 at halftime and continued to extend the gap behind efficient scoring and strong contributions across the roster.
Senior standout
Luke Holecek paced the Skylights with a game-high
22 points, showcasing his scoring ability from both inside and beyond the arc.
Austin Ramos added
15 points and 10 rebounds, providing a double-double effort, while
Claysen Delp scored
11 points in a well-rounded performance. Reserve
Tracen Jilot also made an impact with
15 points off the bench as Northern shot over
48 percent from three-point range and
100 percent from the free throw line.
For Valley City State,
JR Cison led the Vikings with
24 points, keeping his team competitive early before Northern pulled away.
Jaelyn Johnson contributed
8 points, and
Alex Lester chipped in
7 in the losing effort. Despite the loss, the Vikings battled hard, but struggled to keep pace with Northern's offensive efficiency.
The Lights improve to 16-8 overall and 11-7 in Conference. The Lights play next weekend on the road at Rocky and Carroll.
