Lights add All-Around Guard

Head Coach Shawn Huse of the MSU-Northern Lights has announced the signing of 6'1" Guard, Delray Lilley of Wolf Point, MT. On the court for Dawson Community College (Glendive, MT), he helped lead his team to a 24-9 finish and a Region XIII championship. A key player for the Buccaneers, he shot a very good percentage from the three-point line (38%), and made many hustle plays on both ends of the floor, averaging 1.1 steals per game. He is another great fit for the Lights as he makes his mark through giving whatever a team needs when it is needed.  His unselfish style of play, high level of character, team-first mentality, and exceptional work-ethic and hustle should enhance the Lights in their preparation and execution each and every week.

Delray is on path to be a classroom instructor one day and will be studying Education at MSU-Northern.  A remarkable student in the classroom, he brings a great deal more to the table than just his basketball ability. He already has a great understanding of the MSU-Northern area, the program, and the Frontier Conference, and has shown a great deal of interest in, and passion for, Lights basketball.

Dawson CC Head Coach Joe Peterson was elated by Delray's decision, commenting, "We are so happy for Delray to get a chance at his dream school.  No one outworks Delray on and off the court. He is always hustling and always a great teammate. Everybody loves to play with Delray because he does all of the little things that don't always show up in the stat sheet.  I am proud of how he has grown as a player, and I know he will make a positive impact on the Lights program every single day."

Coach Huse added, "Things run more smoothly for a team, when Delray is a part of it. Player movement, ball movement, consistent hustle and focus are philosophies that he clearly subscribes to. Sometimes it's making the 'one-more' pass, sometimes it's tipping a ball that ends up a steal for a teammate, sometimes it's getting a big bucket when other scorers are being keyed on, and sometimes it's just his positive approach to day-to-day practices and school work. He just has a way about him that seems to always help keep a team moving in a positive direction. He is an exceptional student, a great person off the court, and simply put, a wonderful teammate. We could not be more excited, adding Delray Lilley to a room full of proven, quality guys."

The Lights are coming off a very good season.  One that saw them win 18 games, reach the conference championship game, and narrowly miss a trip to the NAIA National Tournament. They graduate one starter and two reserves, yet return a talented accomplished group filled with experience and firepower for the 2026-27 campaign.
